Indian Head Massage has been carried out in India for over 1000 years. Traditionally only the head and hair were worked on, with the treatment given to prevent scalp disorders, make the hair grow strong and also boost brain power.
Dr Narendra Mehta brought the treatment over to the west and developed it to also include the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck and face. He believed that these areas are all important energy centres in the body and by treating them the whole body would benefit.
Benefits may include:
Relief from pain and stiffness in the muscles of the face, scalp, neck, upper back and shoulders
Increased mobility of the joints in the neck and shoulder area
Relief from tension headaches, eye strain, nasal congestion and jaw-ache
Increased energy levels
Alleviation of stress and anxiety
Indian Head Massage is carried out seated, through light clothing and without using oils. It can be given as a stand alone treatment or combined with reflexology for the ultimate indulgence.
